Got my monroe piercing done today! Woop! What size gauge and length would i need once it’s healed?

*.~.*FUBAR*.~.* аѕkеԁ:

I’m hoping іt wіƖƖ bе healed enough іn order tο change thе jewellery οn Monday night ѕο thаt іt іѕ a smaller bar аnԁ ball fοr work οn Tues аnԁ less noticeable аѕ I work іn аn office.

Nο-one hаѕ ѕаіԁ anything аbουt mу nose piercing bυt I’d rаthеr keep іt discreet out οf respect tο mу boss.

Anԁ I’d аƖѕο rаthеr рυt a bioflex bar іn ѕο thаt іt won’t scratch mу teeth.

wow if you work in an office and get a monroe piercing you must be an idiot. that being said. the pierceing is not going to heal in under a week, so i wouldnt recommend taking it out. also with a monroe you shouldnt really be having it gauged. A 14 would be raelly disgesting. I have a 14 in my septum which is really thin for a septum but raelly big for a monroe.

No chance it will be healed enough by then. It will probably still be swelling up by then. 6-8 weeks before you change it, maybe 2 weeks if you go back to the piercer and get a downsize?. But you should’ve been told that… Really no chance. Just try and explain to your boss?

I’d guess 16g, though it could be 14g. And length depends on your lip. About 10-12mm maybe? though a total aguess.

You can put in bioflex at any time, although you want to take it to your piercer to have it autoclaved and inserted for you until it is fully healed. You don’t want to put anything in your piercing that is not completely sterile while you are still healing or you risk infection. Bioflex is sort of tricky to insert anyway, so you will want to have your piercer do it for you for now. Keep in mind that any change in jewelry will prolong the healing process and increase your risk of developing scar tissue. If you can wait to change it, your piercing will be better off in the long run. When buying bioflex make sure you get at least 3/8″ just in case you still have some swelling, 7/16″ would be even better. You can always cut it down later to fit your lip better. Even if your swelling has gone down, changing the jewelry so soon may make it swell again, so make sure you keep that in mind when selecting the length. What gauge you need all depends on what you were originally pierced with. If you were pierced with 14g, you could get either 14g or 16g. But if you were pierced with 16g, you want to stick with that. Trying to insert thicker jewelry will cause all kinds of problems. If you’re not sure what the gauge is, ask your piercer
